Britain 'to scrap retirement age'
European Union proposal sees longer working lives as necessary way to fund pensions. Kamal Ahmed, political editor, The Observer

The European Union is to push Britain towards scrapping the compulsory age of retirement at 65, opening up the prospect of people working far longer in order to fund their old age. Proposals to be put before the Government at a summit of European Ministers and the United Nations in Berlin in the autumn will say retirement ages should be scrapped across the Continent.
